Why Waterproof Name Labels Beat Ordinary Stickers: A Parent's Guide
Share
Every parent has done it: bought a sheet of cute name stickers, stuck them on the water bottle and tiffin, and watched them peel, fade or turn to mush within a week. The bottle goes to school, gets washed, gets refilled, gets left in the sun — and the sticker gives up. Then the bottle itself disappears into the lost-and-found, nameless.
What "waterproof" actually means
A genuinely waterproof name label is different from a paper sticker with a shiny coat. It starts with a synthetic, non-tear film that water cannot soak into, printed with inks that bond to the film rather than sit on top of it, and finished with an adhesive designed to grip curved plastic and steel through hundreds of wet-dry cycles. That is why our labels go through the dishwasher, the steriliser and the monsoon school bag and still read the name clearly months later.
The five surfaces that defeat ordinary stickers
- Water bottles and sippers — washed daily, often scrubbed; needs adhesive that grips curves
- Tiffin boxes — oil, heat and daily washing attack cheap inks first
- Books and notebooks — corners lift on paper stickers; non-tear film stays flat
- Pencil boxes and stationery — constant handling rubs printed names away
- Uniforms and clothing — no sticker survives a washing machine; this is iron-on territory (see our complete iron-on guide)
Label once, forget for the year
The economics favour doing it properly. A mixed pack of waterproof labels in 4-5 sizes covers bottles, tiffins, books, stationery and a bag tag in one order — one name, one theme, everything matched. Parents tell us the real saving is not the replacement stickers; it is the bottles and tiffins that come home instead of joining the lost-and-found pile. Our packs start under Rs 500, less than the price of one replacement bottle.
How to choose your pack
For a single child starting the year: a Mixed Pack covers everything that goes to school. Add iron-on labels if uniforms and sports kits travel too. Browse the full range in our School Labels collection, pick a design your child loves — that matters, they guard what they helped choose — and label everything the night before term starts.
